If there’s one thing I can say I liked about the movie 500 Days of Summer, it’s for reintroducing me to The Smiths. I love the song.

There is a Light that Never Goes Out

Take me out tonight
Where theres music and theres people
And theyre young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I havent got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and i
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please dont drop me home
Because its not my home, its their
Home, and Im welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I dont care
I dont care, I dont care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought oh god, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and i
Just couldnt ask)

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I dont care
I dont care, I dont care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I havent got one, da …
Oh, I havent got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Oh, there is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out

To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die…

P and I watched (500) Days of Summer (more on that later, maybe) and the film’s pseudo-indie soundtrack inspired me to take a look at my music again and re-organize my collection.

Right now I’m listening to music from artists like Audioslave, Bloc Party, Faith No More, Oasis and Radiohead. I’m looking for feel-good songs, slightly upbeat, or songs that leave me feeling wistful, wishful, a little pensive.

Radiohead’s How to Disappear Completely is not any of those. But I just love this song. Listen to it and you just might agree with me.

New phone lust

I have always loved Sony Ericsson phones ever since I bought my first SE (a T610 that I loved until P bought me a W580i), and I especially loved their stylish clamshell phones.

Now that my trusty W580i is starting to show its age (cracked keypad, dog-gnawed off edge and poor battery), I’ve begun hunting for a new phone. And I have found just the phone to lust over!~

Meet the Sony Ericsson T707:

T707

Lovely phone, eh?

GSMArena summarizes its features thus:

  • Quad-band GSM and 3G with HSDPA support
  • 3.15 megapixel camera with Cell-ID geotagging
  • 2.2” 256K-color TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution
  • Secondary monochrome external display (36 x 128 pixels)
  • Scratch-resistant surface for both displays
  • Bluetooth with A2DP
  • Hot-swappable M2 card slot (up to 16 GB)
  • FM radio with RDS
  • Basic multi-tasking support
  • Gesture control
  • Light effects with 5 colors, assignable to contacts
  • Smart dialing
  • Threaded messaging

It’s not a smartphone, but I don’t need a phone that’s smarter than I am. I have my iPod Touch for that.

Admittedly, it’s a form over function kind of phone, with all the snazzy gimmickry like light effects, gesture control and colorful cases it has. Thankfully, it is also quite easy on the pocket, the cheapest I’ve seen being Php8500 on eBay.

I am partial to the fink phone, or Spring Rose, as Sony Ericsson so gaily called it.

Fink

This will be on my to-buy list come December :P

P, it is also my birthday in December. *wink wink*

Left 4 Dead 2 “leaked” trailer. Looks sick, also made of win.
